The Basis Of Giving

Is the very essence of giving to deny oneself the simple pleasures that come with living?

Should it matter to those who receive, that that which you give up, you do so not by choice but rather circumstance?

The receiver receives regardless of the giver’s motive for giving. So why is the giver left feeling the guilt of someone who’s cheated another?

Could it be, that if the giver’s circumstances were different, then they would be less inclined to give?

Maybe so, but if the receiver were ever to exchange places with the giver, it’s likely the receiver would do the same.

Why?

Because, like the giver and the receiver, they only have one person’s interest in mind…

Their own.
